MORE ABOUT MY
DOULA CARE

~

Welcome Mama, I'm so excited for you and the journey you're on. Being able to support and hold space for women in new motherhood is something I am so grateful to do. It's not taken lightly, as I know how vulnerable and intimate this season is. I truly believe that additional support and nourishment while caring for your new baby and getting to know yourself once more in this transition is essential.

About Me
I'm Alicia, a wife, daughter, sister, friend, doula, yoga teacher, space holder, and the founder of Samvida Conscious Womanhood. I seek slowness, intentionality and joy in my own life, and I hope that I'm able to bring this to your home and your heart through my care. I know that there are plenty of doulas out there to choose from, and I really believe in the importance of feeling alignment in your choice. I know that I'll be the perfect fit for some, and I trust that the universe will ensure my path crosses with the families that specifically need me and my support. I encourage you to have a read of all the information I've included below and on the previous page, to see if it feels like we're a match. You can also find some words of praise & feedback from my beautiful clients here ~ Testimonies.

Everyone wants to hold the baby, but no one is there to hold the mother...

That's where I come in. You need to be held, mama.

My doula values

Rituals

Rituals can help you to connect to yourself and your baby in a deeper way. We will weave in what you need; cups of tea, meditation, yoga. I'll give you tools to invite small daily practices into your life as a newborn mum, supporting your emotional wellbeing.

Ceremony & Massage

This special season in your life is so worth finding the time and space to honour your magic as a woman. There are many ways to welcome ceremony into your life, to mark rites of passage such as birth and new motherhood; you are reborn a mother through the birth of your child.

Massage is a beautiful way to support healing of your physical body after birth, or to simply release tension from carrying a baby around!

Warmth

Warmth should be ever-present in your weeks after birth, whether this is the food you consume, the blankets over your recovering body, your baby on your chest, the herbal bath that is run for you, or the nature of the people that surround you. I ensure that warmth is at the forefront of my care.

Sacred Space Holding

I believe that one of my life purposes is to hold space for others. I see this as creating a safety net for someone to release whatever needs to be let go, and know they won't just keep falling. What this looks like will depend on what you need. Holding space for you in motherhood is deeply rooted in how I do things, more so than the what. One thing I am sure of, is that there's so much power in having someone listen; someone who truly cares and will not judge, yet simply hear and validate your feelings.

Rest

It's so important to balance rest with movement in pregnancy; you are growing life inside of you after all!

Yet after birth, rest is evermore essential, and I'm here to make sure rest happens. You have just been through a huge physical, energetic, spiritual & emotional event. Allow others to support you and create a village. My focus is on mothering the mother, and I weave this into my care however best fits each mum. It might be a hand massage, foot soak, essential oils, an extra set of hands around the house. Anything that supports your wellbeing and your healing.

Food

I cook nutritious, nourishing foods that support your healing, your energy, your milk supply and your wellbeing. I am really drawn to the Indian Traditions for mothers after birth; in Ayurveda the mother's diet consists of what are known as Sattvic foods (warm, pure and nourishing), which decrease the element of Vata (air) in the body, reducing the mother's need to be 'doing' & simply grounding her in the present. I often cook with these principles in mind. When I visit, I bring a meal package that also includes one handed snacks, made with foods that will nourish you from the inside.

Preparation

We do our research when we buy a car, book a holiday, or plan a wedding. But what about preparing for one of the biggest transitions and seasons of life? The initial weeks after birth can really set you up for success in motherhood if you prepare well. Remember that birth is just the beginning of this journey, and the work truly begins here. We will incorporate the use of resources, visits & phone support to guide you on this rite of passage. I want to ensure that you feel supported and empowered at every stage, setting you up for success beyond our visits.
